Head Coach: Josh Headen
Asst. Coach:  Greg Shanton

Coach Headen grew up in the Northern Virginia area playing basketball all his life. He started at the house league level and continued up through travel and AAU. Along the way he honed his craft by spending summers training with his Uncle Mike Morrison, who played Division 1 basketball at Loyola and went on to play in the NBA and over overseas. He took what he learned from his time with his Uncle to the high school level. He attended Herndon High School where he played alongside Scottie Reynolds and helped lead his team to a District and Regional championship season that ended with a loss in the State Championship. During his career, he spent time playing against top players in the country such as: Michael Beasley, Ty Lawson, Kevin Durant, and many others. These experiences shaped his love for the game and provided him with invaluable knowledge of how to play the game the right way. After high school, he attended George Mason University where he continued his study of the game by working Coach Jim Larrañaga’s Summer Basketball Camp.

After college, Coach Headen moved into coaching high school basketball. He coached the Freshmen Boy’s Basketball Team at Herndon for several years, and he has had several players move on to the varsity level. Also during that time, he has also served as a Boys Varsity Assistant Coach for Herndon. In 2016 Coach Headen was named Head Varsity Coach at Herndon HS.  While coaching, he has helped lead the team to win two district championships, and he has seen four players go on to play on the college level.

This will also be his second year coaching AAU with Nova 94 Feet.  His philosophy is “preparation, hard work, and effort will always lead to success.” When he’s not coaching, he is impacting students’ lives as a teacher at Herndon High School.
