NOVA 94 Feet 5th Grade Girls Team-Orange

Head Coach:  Christine Shamloo

Asst Coaches:  Mayo Wilson

Coach Chris is entering her second year of coaching with NOVA 94 Feet Basketball Program, as she coached our 3rd Grade Girls and 4th Grade Girls to a gold medal win at the Potomac Valley AAU regional qualifier. She has experience coaching AAU teams at 5th through 6th grade level. She served as the assistant coach on the Arlington Hurricanes team during the 2006 and 2007 AAU season.

Coach Chris basketball life started many years ago first as a player for CYO in Queens, NY.  She went on to play at Stella Maris HS, Rockaway Beach and played as a freshman for Molloy College NY. Coach Chris is passionate that basketball provides you with critical skills that are used throughout one’s lifetime. Strategic Decision Making, Discipline, Critical Thinking, Leadership and Team Work are further developed and recognized by players when playing the game.

Coach Chris is registered nurse and works for the MITRE Corporation supporting the Department of Defense Military System, The Veteran’s Health Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, and other federal healthcare agencies.  Coach Chris is married with 3 children.  Her oldest daughter Elizabeth was a point guard on the varsity basketball team. Her son Andrew is presently playing 12U AAU basketball and started out in AAU in 1st grade. Madison is also playing AAU basketball for 5th Grade and this is her fourthyear playing AAU basketball.

Coach Chris is committed to teaching the fundamentals and proper mechanics of the game. She also believes that as much concentration must be paid to defense as offense, as defense wins games!  Her priority is to instill the principle that “hard physical work can be a lot of fun” and is looking forward to a successful and productive season.  Coach Shamloo brings 100% to the team and the season and expects the same of her players.

Mayo Wilson has been around the game of basketball since the age of three and is in his first year of coaching AAU.  He has coached for Burke  and BRYC for the past three seasons in both the boys and girls leagues.

Mayo started playing organized basketball at the age of five.  He played AAU from elementary school through high school and had the opportunity to participate in the national tournament at age 15.  He played varsity basketball for three years at William Byrd High School before moving onto the University of Virginia.  During his first year at UVA he became a member of the junior varsity basketball team.  Since that time Mayo has stayed active with basketball and has participated in adult basketball leagues.
This will be Mayo's second year coaching with NOVA 94.  He is passionate about the game and loves sharing his knowledge with the kids.  He hopes that the lessons he teaches will aid the kids in being successful on and off the court.
